The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) ng Bataan, presided by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia unanimously agreed adopting a resolution authorizing Gov. Joet Garcia to enter into a memorandum of agreement with private hospitals for referrals and accommodation of eligible patients covered under the medical assistance program of the Provincial Government of Bataan.
Vice Gov. Garcia said there is urgency to approve the letter-request from the governor given the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the province with Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center attending to them.
Board Member Harold Espeleta even commended the initiative of the governor to help the sick residents of the province, while Board Member Tony Boy Roman, chairman of the Committee of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Matters motioned for the adoption of the resolution.
The MOA aims to streamline and establish a procedure for the issuance of charge slips to eligible patients that may be used to partially cover the cost of hospitalization to help facilitate the patient’s discharge.
The Provincial Government of Bataan previously partnered with certain private hospitals for accommodation of eligible patients.
Private hospitals that expressed willingness to continue working with the provincial government as partner institutions are Bataan Doctors Hospital and Medical Center, Bataan Saint Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, Balanga Medical Center, Centro Medico de Santisimo Rosario,Orion St. Michael Hospital, and Isaac and Catalina Medical Center.
